Keep your eyes peeled for more info coming soon from your county about Pencil Express!
These fantastic new Pencil Express resources are designed to encourage girls across Scotland, including young members and girls on the waiting list, to express themselves.
We’ve sent pencils to county commissioners all over the country, enough to give our young members one each, with some left over for girls on the waiting list. With these pencils we want girls to create works of art, share their hopes for the future, write poems or start campaigns to help save the world! The list goes on because there are so many ways they can use their voice just by picking up a pencil.
We’ve come up with a list of ways girls can express themselves. There are three headings to choose from; Me as an individual, Me in my community and Me and my world. All girls have to do to earn a badge is express themselves using one or more of these headings and submit their creation to their county.
There is no wrong answer and there’s no need to stick to the prompts! This would make a great first night back after the holidays activity and please remember that if pencils aren’t suitable girls are free to use another tool to express themselves.
There will be local displays in each county during the first two weeks of October showcasing a range of the entries from different age groups, topics and types of creation. Your leader will be able to let you know more about this closer to the time.
Don’t forget to show us what your girls get up to on social media, tag us @Girlguidingscot using #PencilExpress.
