This year our Out and About Challenge is all about farming, agriculture and sustainability!
Join us in spending a glorious summer growing sunflowers, getting muddy in allotments, learning how to herd sheep and picnicking with Scottish produce!
Grow and Explore will help you discover more about the food we eat, why it’s important to use fresh local produce when you can, and encourage you to try growing your own.
There are two sections for this badge:
To get your badge, please complete 2 activities. At least 1 of the activities you complete should be from the outdoor activities section.

As part of this year’s Out and About challenge, we’re inviting units to take part in our scarecrow competition. Scarecrows are an important part of farming life and we want you to create a scarecrow out of any materials and of any size! You could even see if your local allotment, community garden or farmer would make use of your scarecrow after you’ve made it.
There will be prizes for most creative scarecrow in each category:
Enter as a unit or as an individual by emailing a photo of your entry to web@girlguiding-scot.org.uk by 30 September 2024.
