We’re excited to welcome Reann to the Girlguiding Scotland team. Thanks to generous funding from the Gannochy Trust, Reann has joined us as a Growth and Development Worker, and she’ll be supporting volunteers across Strathclyde to tackle waiting lists over the next year.
She’ll also be helping to open new units, grow existing ones and trial flexible guiding approaches as well as providing support with accessing funding. Get to know her, and her new role, a bit better below…
Girlguiding was a huge part of my life growing up, and gave me unique opportunities to have fun, be curious, and grow as a person. So, when I saw this role advertised, I knew it would be the perfect challenge! I was a teacher before I came to work here and it showed me the joy of working with children and seeing them flourish academically. Now, I’m excited to help young people in a new way, so they too can be part of this special community and discover their next adventure.
It’s been a whirlwind of information, meeting the team and seeing all the incredible work that Girlguiding Scotland does. At the moment I’m still getting to know the Strathclyde area and finding out more about what I can do to help the units there. Soon I’ll be meeting with volunteers so we can chat through new ways to work together and help guiding thrive.
I’ve been met with so much warmth and enthusiasm, and I’ve already learned so much about the work volunteers do! It’s been wonderful to be so welcomed into this community, and see the vision that people have for the future of Girlguiding.
Definitely working with the local volunteers. The experience, generosity, and innovation they have is unparalleled, and I’m excited to work with the volunteers to make Girlguiding in the Strathclyde area stronger than ever.
If you’d like to get more information and then please don’t hesitate to reach out to Reann today.
