Dundee Brownie, Eva-May, has raised over £1,000 for charity after donating her hair

14.02.25

Eva-May Stewart, 8, felt inspired to do a good deed for someone else over the Christmas period. What started out as donating pocket money to the Children’s Hospital at Ninewells then turned into Eva-May donating 12 inches of hair to The Little Princess Trust last year to be transformed into a wig. In total, Eva-May raised £1,220 for the cause – which provides wigs made out of real hair to young people who have lost their hair. Eva-May’s mum, Jill, said that the family are all “so proud” of her, “Eva-May is always wanting to help others. I am very proud of the kind, thoughtful girl she is. She put up posters in school, carried buckets to collect money at her brother’s hockey games and she took the time to tell everyone what she was raising money for. We are all so proud of how hard she worked to raise £1,220 for The Little Princess Trust. What an amazing achievement from our amazing girl.”

Speaking on her reason for donating her locks, Eva-May said: “I wanted to make someone’s wish come true at Christmas time. I hoped my donation would mean a child would have their own wig in time for Christmas.”

Michelle Marriott, assistant leader of the 30th B Dundee Brownie unit where Eva-May attends, added: “Both Sine (main unit leader) and myself are very proud of Eva-May, she’s only been a Brownie for a year as she’s just turned 8. Since joining our unit Eva-May has been a very active member of the group, taking part in a wide variety of activities and events with great enthusiasm and commitment. This was very apparent during her fundraising efforts for her charities badge. We are looking forward to supporting her at Brownies for the next 2 years and hopefully achieving her Brownie gold award.”
