What is the project aiming to do?

The project is trying new and innovative ways to:

  • Support commissioners to enjoy their roles and work effectively
  • Support commissioners to have the skills, knowledge and experience they need
  • Be prepared for future leadership needs at all levels
  • Ensure our culture is as welcoming and as inclusive as it can be so we can attract and keep volunteers

What’s happening as part of the project?

There will be a range of pilot projects including new resources, events and communication campaigns. By March 2026, we’ll have identified which of these pilots are most effective in achieving our aims. From this we can then decide which are suitable to be scaled up or rolled out across Girlguiding Scotland.

What’s coming up in the next few months?

Over the coming year, we’ll be running a variety of pilot projects, and are keen to have you involved! By taking part and telling us what you think of this work, we’ll be able to understand what’s working, what’s going less well and what needs to change.

The pilot projects we are currently looking for your involvement in are:

Over the next few months we’ll also be talking more about commissioners on our social media channels to raise the profile of how important these roles are.

How can I get involved?

If you’re interested in taking part in one of the pilot projects, please fill in the relevant form on the event pages linked above.

We’ll be announcing more opportunities to get involved later in the year. Keep an eye on the Girlguiding Scotland events page, social media channels, @GirlguidingScot, and marketing emails for ways to be part of this exciting project. Everyone involved in the project will earn 1 of our new ‘I’m leading the future’ badges.
